An established and highly respected IT services provider is looking for an experienced 2nd/3rd Line IT Support Engineer to join its growing technical team. Key Responsibilities
- Providing advanced troubleshooting and resolution for escalated technical issues
- Managing and maintaining servers, virtualisation platforms, storage, and network infrastructure
- Supporting Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and Active Directory environments
- Administering Windows Server technologies, including DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy
- Configuring and maintaining firewalls, switches, VPNs, and network services
- Performing root cause analysis and implementing long-term solutions
- Supporting patch management, system updates, and security hardening
- Contributing to infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and new technology deployments
- Creating and maintaining technical documentation and knowledge base articles
- Mentoring junior engineers and providing technical guidance
- Ensuring systems meet security, compliance, and operational requirements
Skills & Knowledge
- Minimum 5 years' IT experience, including experience in a senior technical support role
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Desktop operating systems
- Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP
- Strong understanding of Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, SharePoint, and Teams
- Experience with Hyper‑V and virtualisation technologies
- Knowledge of Azure AD, hybrid environments, and identity management
- Strong networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, VPNs, and firewalls
- Experience with backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions
- Knowledge of antivirus and email security technologies
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to reliably commute to Hull and the surrounding areas
Desirable:
- Experience supporting macOS, iOS, or Android devices
- Knowledge of Sage, Xero, or other business applications
- Experience with VoIP telephony systems
- Familiarity with Ubiquiti and SonicWall technologies
- Experience using monitoring tools
- Understanding of ITIL processes
- Relevant Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA, or similar certifications
