Overview
The clinical lead Physiotherapist will be responsible for developing and delivering the services for cancer patients in partnership with key stakeholders within the locality, taking responsibility for delivering the program to improve treatment pathways, patients outcomes and experience. The post holder will work alongside the multidisciplinary team to plan, coordinate, deliver and evaluate the therapy service provided to patients referred for pre-habilitation and rehabilitation. As a Clinical Lead Physiotherapist, you will have advanced levels of clinical experience in the assessment and treatment of cancer patients or cancer related conditions.
Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for the clinical leadership, professional and organisational development of the Active Together project alongside an Operational Lead, Yorkshire Cancer Research and Sheffield Hallam University.
- Demonstrate a high regard for clinical operations and governance to assure high standards of patient centered care.
- Be adaptable to changing environments and work effectively in a team, actively contributing as a member and building social networks to ensure partnerships with other agencies to identify and address immediate needs.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills given the nature of the role.
- Work within Hull University Teaching Hospitals as a Band 7 Clinical Lead Physiotherapist to support the Active Together service from January 2026 in Hull City Centre.
- Participate in collaboration with NHS Humber Health Partnership and Yorkshire Cancer Research to implement an Active Together model for people diagnosed with cancer where the treatment has curative intent, alongside existing diagnostic and treatment pathways.
- Contribute to the program’s aim to maximise resilience to treatment, improve longer term health, minimise side effects and empower patients to be partners in their healthcare, combining physical activity, nutrition support and psychological support with the clinical pathway.
- Engage in staged implementation into cancer pathways (starting with colorectal and Upper GI tumor sites) and manage patient triage into appropriate support paths.
