Help Shape the Future of Transport in Hull and East Yorkshire
Hull and East Yorkshire Combined Authority (HEYCA) is leading one of the most exciting periods of change and investment the region has seen in decades.
Created through devolution, HEYCA is bringing together local leadership, investment and ambition to improve transport, drive economic growth, strengthen connectivity and create new opportunities for residents and businesses.
We're looking for an exceptional Communications, Advocacy and Stakeholder Engagement Officer to help tell that story, build influential partnerships and ensure the voices of our stakeholders help shape the future of transport across the region.
If you're passionate about working with people, influencing change and making a visible difference to communities, we'd love to hear from you.
About the Role
This is a high-profile, outward-facing role at the heart of HEYCA's Transport and Connectivity team.
You will work with a wide range of stakeholders including transport operators, local authorities, government bodies, businesses, community organisations and elected representatives to build trust, strengthen partnerships and champion HEYCA's transport ambitions.
Whether you're preparing briefings for senior leaders, supporting major transport projects, coordinating stakeholder engagement activity or representing HEYCA at events and meetings, you'll play a key role in ensuring our work is understood, supported and successfully delivered.
No two days will be the same, but every day will be an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the future of Hull and East Yorkshire.
Your Impact
This is more than a communications role.
Your work will help secure support for transport investment, strengthen relationships across the region and ensure local voices are heard in important decisions that affect our communities.
You’ll help:
- Raise the profile of Hull and East Yorkshire on the regional stage.
- Support transport projects that improve journeys, connectivity and accessibility.
- Build productive relationships with key partners and decision-makers.
- Ensure stakeholder insight helps shape policy, investment and service delivery.
- Showcase the positive impact of devolution and regional investment.
- Help deliver a transport network that supports growth, opportunity and prosperity.
The relationships you build and the conversations you lead will have a lasting impact on the region's future.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with transport and regional stakeholders.
- Act as a key point of contact for stakeholder engagement and transport-related enquiries.
- Coordinate engagement activities for transport projects and investment programmes.
- Prepare high-quality briefings, reports, correspondence and communications materials.
- Support advocacy activity with government departments, local authorities and industry partners.
- Organise and facilitate meetings, consultations, forums and stakeholder events.
- Develop engaging content for digital and social media channels.
- Monitor stakeholder feedback and use insights to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
What We’re Looking For
We're seeking a confident communicator, relationship‑builder and problem‑solver who enjoys working with people and making things happen.
You will bring:
- Experience in stakeholder engagement, communications, public affairs or a related field.
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
- The ability to build credibility and productive relationships with a wide range of audiences.
- Strong influencing, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Political awareness, sound judgement and a professional approach.
- A proactive mindset and a passion for delivering positive outcomes.
- Experience within transport, infrastructure, local government, combined authorities or the public sector would be beneficial but is not essential.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is enthusiastic, collaborative and motivated by the opportunity to make a real difference.
Why Join HEYCA?
This is a unique opportunity to join a newly established Combined Authority at a defining moment in its journey.
At HEYCA, you'll have the chance to help shape a growing organisation, influence projects that matter and contribute to one of the UK's most significant devolution programmes.
In return, you'll benefit from:
- The opportunity to make a genuine impact on the future of the region.
- Meaningful, high-profile work with lasting outcomes.
- A supportive and collaborative working environment.
- Access to professional development and career progression opportunities.
Join us and play a key role in delivering the transport connections, opportunities and investment that will shape Hull and East Yorkshire for generations to come.
