We’re currently looking for an experienced C9 Maintenance Team Leader at Huhtamaki in Preston, Victoria.

You may be required to stay back or work on weekends to support the team as and when needed.

This role will report directly to the Maintenance Manager.

  • Ideal candidate
  • Successfully completed Mechanical trade certificate III – Fitter and Turner/Machinist.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a leadership role within a similar environment.
  • Demonstrated capability in managing conflicts, workloads and operational priorities.
  • Demonstrated experience with preventative and corrective maintenance systems.
  • Strong decision‑making and problem‑solving skills.
  • Basic TIG/MIG welding and machining experience required.
  • Reliable, hands‑on and team oriented.
  • Clear and confident communication with all levels of the business.
  • Indicative tasks include
  • Responsible for directing the activities of the maintenance team.
  • Hold team briefings and communicate all operational and business activities and initiatives.
  • Ensure all maintenance works are completed within the allocated timeframes.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of maintenance programmes such as training/skills development and safety.
  • Provide reasonable contact to give advice and/or assistance after hours or on weekends if urgent maintenance issues arise.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and checks as per the work orders.
  • Train and help develop documents to perform overhauls of various site equipment like pumps, agitators, conveyors, mechanical filters, printers and label applicators.
  • Breakdown maintenance – identify issues and guide the team to repair as necessary.
  • Assist with machine setup, adjustments and changeover.
  • Preparation work in workshop for the next PM, overhaul and changeover.
  • Other reasonable duties as directed by the Maintenance Manager.
  • Induction of contractors when required.
