Your opportunity: We're currently looking for a CAD Designer. In this position, you will be responsible for all the response elements of a customer brief, delivering sustainable packaging/carton design solutions for world-class global brands. From concept to supply, exceed customer, environmental and production demands into creative packing proposals and provide a range of alternatives for review. You will report to the CAD Manager and be part of the CAD team.
Where you'll be: You will be located at our Belfast site and you should be within reasonable commuting distance from here.
What you'll be doing:
- Create and provide innovative packaging designs which meet the customer and Company's requirements, ensuring brief responses are delivered right first time.
- Research existing products, ideas and patents and provide added value packaging alternatives on new and existing carton designs.
- Liaison with Customers, Design Studios, Sales Team, Prepress and Production Departments in bringing prototypes to the marketplace.
- Provide visual packaging concepts through structural prototypes & technical drawings.
- Assist in the generation of future pipelines for potential opportunities.
- Create multi-up layouts for pricing/tooling orders.
- Carrying out associated administration and documentation.
- Undertake Special Projects.
- Adhere to the Company's confidentiality rules and procedures at all times.
What you'll bring to the role:
Experience & Education:- Educated to degree level standard.
- Relevant design experience within the folding carton industry.
- Track record of developing innovative carton/packaging design solutions.
- Literate in ArtiosCAD or similar bespoke Packaging Software.
- Sample Prototyping.
- Relevant experience working to a design brief, within the constraints of a budget and deadline.
- High caliber designs and presentations.
- Pro-actively identifying opportunities.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Take project from initial brief right the way through to finished high quality customer facing design presentation.
- An eye for emerging new trends.
- Understanding Customers' desire to encompass sustainability and environmentally friendly approaches to developing solutions.
- Self-motivated.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Conceptual thinker able to research new concepts.
- Ability to plan and organise workload effectively to meet specified deadlines.
- Excellent customer service.
- Innovative and highly creative whilst listening carefully to customer requirements.
- Ability to deal with customer requests for multiple design amendments and being prepared to rework them, sometimes at short notice to meet deadlines.
- Team player that is open to collaboration while seeking solutions.
- Passion to excel and challenge the traditions of packaging design.
- Degree in packaging design.
- Experienced in the use of Kongsberg (or similar) sample tables.
- Ability to design layouts for pricing & progressing same to full tooling orders.
