Our people on the shop floor produce innovative, sustainable products. We have an excellent opportunity for a Maintenance Technician to join our team. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician will ensure that all facilities are maintained in optimum condition to meet required standards of safety, efficiency and reliability.
The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for:
- Undertaking various planned and reactive maintenance tasks.
- Identifying and implementing improvements on equipment.
- Completing planned repairs and preventative maintenance in accordance with the Computerised Maintenance Monitoring system to prevent breakdowns and maintain optimal operation of equipment.
- Completing breakdowns in accordance with the Computerised Maintenance Monitoring system, reporting daily to ensure minimal disruption to production requirements.
- Ensuring maintenance work backlogs are actively cleared with overtime working as necessary.
- Awareness of energy usage particularly when machines are idling and not producing to save/reduce energy consumption.
- Compliant hygienic maintenance practices and lock out procedures to protect employees from rotating machinery.
- Supervising contractors as required to ensure Health and Safety compliance.
- Training other stakeholders to develop Standard Operating Procedures, planned maintenance and information systems.
- Conducting tests including fixed wire tests, fire extinguishers, fire alarms, fire pumps, break glass alarms, heat detectors, hoists, hot work permits, emergency light tests and asbestos surveys.
- Travelling to multi-site facilities as requested to complete maintenance requirements.
- Carrying out all maintenance work in compliance with Health and Safety and statutory regulations to provide a safe environment for the employees.
- Reporting all non-compliance of contractors as required to ensure Health and Safety and Hygiene compliance standards are met.
- Ensuring Personal Protection Equipment is maintained as fit for purpose and correctly worn.
- Communicating any major or reoccurring issues immediately and updating the status on these issues regularly.
Essential Criteria:
- Hold a NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering (Electric bias preferred).
- Post qualification mechanical and electrical experience gained with a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Able to demonstrate experience of electrical and mechanical fault-finding / problem solving.
- Able to read and understand electrical drawings.
- Experience in pneumatics, inverters, servo drives & motors, robotics, process wiring and safety controls.
- Experience in fitment and set up of mechanical components, timing belts, spur & bevel gears, bearings and shaft alignment.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
