About the Role
Join the Software Engineering team, where you will play a crucial role in developing, enhancing, and – in the long term – transforming our investment reporting platform, Serpentine – a web application written using Python and Django. Serpentine tackles the challenges of managing large, dynamic and multilingual client websites, as well as publishing complex investment reports.
We are at a pivotal stage in the development of our business, with plans to develop a new suite of products. This is an exciting opportunity to take the helm of new projects, from the research and planning stage through to final deployment.
You will:
- Lead the maintenance, extension and feature development across all facets of our software’s backend, with the opportunity to work on all layers of the application, including AWS infrastructure.
- Architect and implement new software solutions, leading the overall structural design and fostering engineering best practice within a small team.
- Collaborate closely with our design, front‑end, and client‑facing teams.
- Provide technical guidance and leadership to Huguenots’ growing backend team.
You should have:
- Mastery of the full product development life cycle.
- 10+ years’ experience in professional Python development, with at least 5 years of experience working with Django specifically.
- Proven experience tackling and, where necessary delegating, large, complex tasks, whilst maintaining a keen eye for detail.
- A confident and positive communication style with an ability to guide and inspire more junior team members.
