The Role
As a Handy Person, you will support the day-to-day operation of our production facility by carrying out general maintenance, repairs, and site upkeep. You will help ensure equipment, infrastructure, and work areas are safe, clean, and fully operational, enabling efficient production while maintaining high standards of hygiene, food safety, and health & safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general maintenance and repair work across production, warehouse, and site areas
- Assist with basic repairs to machinery, fixtures, and fittings to minimise downtime
- Maintain floors, walls, and work surfaces, ensuring a safe and well-kept environment
- Support the installation, movement, and setup of equipment and production lines
- Perform routine building maintenance, including minor structural and surface repairs
- Maintain external areas such as yards, walkways, fencing, and drainage systems
- Carry out cleaning duties including power washing and upkeep of waste areas
- Undertake basic plumbing, joinery, painting, and general repair tasks
- Ensure all work is completed in line with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards
- Identify and report hazards, defects, and maintenance issues while minimising disruption to production operations
- Liaise effectively with external contractors to ensure safe working practices and optimal technical solutions

Essential Criteria
- Basic maintenance training or proven experience in a handyman, facilities, or production environment
- Experience carrying out general maintenance and repairs (e.g., basic plumbing, joinery, painting)
- Experience working in a production, industrial, or facilities environment
- Knowledge of health & safety practices in the workplace
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to identify and resolve general maintenance issues
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely
Desirable Criteria
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Manual Handling, Working at Height, COSHH Awareness, First Aid)
- Experience within a food production or FMCG environment
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards (e.g., HACCP awareness)
- Basic understanding of production equipment and machinery maintenance
- IT literacy for reporting maintenance tasks
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills
- Positive attitude towards continuous improvement
