Hugh Baird College, an Ofsted Outstanding provider, is looking for a skilled electrical professional to join our Building Services team as a Lecturer in Electrical Installation. This role is perfect for someone ready to step off the tools, gain a better work–life balance, and use their trade expertise to inspire future electricians.

Industry Experience Required — No Teaching Experience Needed

You do not need to have taught before. However, to be considered you must:

  • hold a Level 3 (or higher) qualification in Electrical Installation or equivalent
  • have recent, relevant industry experience

Without these mandatory trade qualifications, we cannot progress your application.

Government Retention Bonus – Up to £6,000

Electrical Installation teaching is part of the Government’s priority "building and construction" subject area. This means eligible FE teachers in their first five years of teaching can receive between £2,000 and £6,000, depending on teaching hours and provider criteria. Applications for the 2025–26 academic year open 2 March – 31 May 2026. We will support eligible new staff with the application process. Interested candidates are advised to apply early, as the vacancy will close once the right candidate is found.
