Role
Sefton Sixth Form College is seeking a Teacher of Biology to join the Faculty of Maths, Science & Health. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment to ensure successful learner outcomes and maximise student potential. Responsibilities include teaching A-level Biology and contributing to curriculum development and enhancement.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
- Teach A-level Biology
- Implement effective feedback and assessment systems
- Deliver lessons aligned with TLA Principles
- Contribute to curriculum innovation, development, and implementation
- Maintain a professional learning environment
- Contribute to the delivery of the enhancement program
Main Tasks
- Deliver motivating and inspiring teaching and learning
- Develop assessments and provide constructive feedback
- Facilitate learning using appropriate materials and methods
- Utilise technology to enable independent learning
- Embed employability skills through teaching and learning
- Consistently challenge lateness and attendance concerns
- Establish and maintain relationships with students
- Take part in reviews of course performance and curriculum development
- Participate in professional development and training activities
Qualifications & Criteria
- Possess a degree in Biology or a related subject
- Possess a PGCE/Certificate of Education or equivalent teaching qualification
- Track record of successful teaching experience within a Sixth Form setting, preferably teaching A level Biology
- Detailed knowledge of relevant subject matter and examination and assessment requirements
- Understanding of value added and the use of progress performance measures
- Experience of developing and maintaining external partnerships to enrich teaching and learning
- Ability to provide clear, direct and constructive written and verbal feedback
