Location: Sefton Sixth Form College, Litherland. Part-time (11.5 hours per week across Wed-Fri). Salary: £33,000 – £41,108 per year. Department: A-Level Provision. Application Deadline: 18 September 2025.

Role

Sefton Sixth Form College is seeking a Teacher of Biology to join the Faculty of Maths, Science & Health. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment to ensure successful learner outcomes and maximise student potential. Responsibilities include teaching A-level Biology and contributing to curriculum development and enhancement.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Teach A-level Biology
  • Implement effective feedback and assessment systems
  • Deliver lessons aligned with TLA Principles
  • Contribute to curriculum innovation, development, and implementation
  • Maintain a professional learning environment
  • Contribute to the delivery of the enhancement program

Main Tasks

  • Deliver motivating and inspiring teaching and learning
  • Develop assessments and provide constructive feedback
  • Facilitate learning using appropriate materials and methods
  • Utilise technology to enable independent learning
  • Embed employability skills through teaching and learning
  • Consistently challenge lateness and attendance concerns
  • Establish and maintain relationships with students
  • Take part in reviews of course performance and curriculum development
  • Participate in professional development and training activities

Qualifications & Criteria

  • Possess a degree in Biology or a related subject
  • Possess a PGCE/Certificate of Education or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Track record of successful teaching experience within a Sixth Form setting, preferably teaching A level Biology
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant subject matter and examination and assessment requirements
  • Understanding of value added and the use of progress performance measures
  • Experience of developing and maintaining external partnerships to enrich teaching and learning
  • Ability to provide clear, direct and constructive written and verbal feedback
