The role:

  • As part of our Technical team expansion, we are now looking for an Ingredient Technologist to support our raw material control process.
  • This role will see you use analytical techniques to investigate our raw materials and build an understanding of their consistency.
  • You’ll look at their quality and safety over the product's shelf life and how all of this impacts the final quality of our Huel products!
  • This role will be based onsite, 5 days a week at our new manufacturing site in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire.
  • Looking after the quality of our ingredients by conducting inspections upon receipt for both raw ingredients and packaging.
  • Monitoring & testing the quality of our raw materials to establish baselines of ingredient acceptability and variability.
  • Looking at raw material sample scheduling and communication of test planning and results.
  • Utilising in-house technology such as NIR for ingredient monitoring.
  • Creating & managing QAS standards & devising scientific studies to assess ingredient behaviour over shelf life.
  • Looking after sample submissions for external laboratory testing, including allergens, microbiology, DNA testing, aflatoxins & heavy metals.

What we’re looking for in you:

  • This role will best suit someone with a background and passion for food and science.
  • You may be a grad who has a degree in Science or Engineering (Chemical, Food etc) or you might already have 1-2 years of experience working within the technical world.
  • It is important that you have an understanding of ingredient structure, chemistry, and functionality.
  • You’ll have capable lab skills and the ability to devise and lead practical studies with some independence.
  • You’ll need to be strong with numbers, data management, and interpretation to help report on all your findings.
  • You’ll be personable and able to build and maintain strong working relationships.
  • You’ll have great attention to detail and good organisation skills which will help you to be process driven.
  • You will be someone who is able to work in a fast-paced environment.
