Our client is seeking a Yard Operative / HGV Driver to join their busy branch in Hemel Hempstead. This hands-on role involves picking and preparing orders in the yard and warehouse, as well as making local deliveries of building materials while delivering excellent service to both trade and retail customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Pick and prepare orders for delivery
- Assist customers in the yard with product selection and loading
- Carry out stock rotation and general yard maintenance
- Load and unload HGV vehicles safely and efficiently
- Conduct multi-drop deliveries around the local area
- Complete vehicle safety checks and inspections prior to journeys
- Accurately maintain records of journey times, mileage, and driving hours
- Operate a tachograph in line with legal requirements
- Maintain high standards of health & safety at all times
- Provide a professional, courteous service to customers and the public
Skills & Requirements
- Knowledge of heavy-side building materials
- Experience in all aspects of stock handling
- Proven experience operating counterbalance and combination forklifts
- Valid forklift licence
- HGV Category C licence (essential)
- HIAB/ALLMI certification (preferred)
- Experience operating HIAB and Moffett (preferred)
