We are urgently seeking an experienced CNC Milling Programmer / Setter / Operator to join a modern, well-structured manufacturing environment. This role is suited to someone with a strong background in precision machining who can programme, set, and operate CNC milling machines safely and efficiently to achieve right-first-time results.
You will be joining an inclusive, collaborative team within a professional workshop housing state-of-the-art CNC machinery, laser equipment, and CMM inspection. The business supports a diverse range of high-tech sectors including medical, aerospace, semiconductor, nuclear, and other scientific industries.

- Heidenhain controls
- 5-axis milling
- Online programming
- Large part machining
Key Accountabilities:
- Programme, set, and operate CNC milling machines
- Read and interpret engineering drawings to ensure accurate manufacture
- Create and maintain layout sheets detailing tooling, set-ups, and machine parameters
- Work independently to high standards while meeting production deadlines
- Inspect and qualify own work using a range of measuring equipment
- Document quality results in line with company procedures
- Support and train colleagues where required
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organised working environment, adhering to PPE requirements
- Contribute to continuous improvement through time- and cost-saving initiatives
Qualifications & Experience:
- Time-served apprenticeship preferred (not essential)
- Ideally several years experience programming and operating 3-, 4- and 5-axis CNC milling machines
- Strong proficiency with Heidenhain controls (Fanuc experience advantageous)
- Ability to take responsibility for own quality, including use of MTE and completion of quality documentation
- Previous experience with Doosan, Matsuura, and/or Mazak machines
- Ability to machine to tight tolerances (circa 20 microns)
- Experience machining large components up to 2.5 metres
- Overhead crane and manual handling training beneficial (training can be provided)
- Strong communication skills and a positive, proactive attitude
- High focus on quality, productivity, and continuous improvement
- Flexible and adaptable to support a changing business environment
- Strong work ethic essential
