A commercially driven Sales Manager is urgently required to grow business across the UK pharmaceutical packaging market. This is a highly new-business-focused role (70% new business / 30% account management), ideal for a proven sales hunter who can open doors, win new pharmaceutical customers and grow existing accounts.

As a strong business development and sales manager, you will build relationships with pharmaceutical manufacturers and senior stakeholders across Procurement, Packaging, Supply Chain, Operations, Quality and Commercial, taking opportunities from initial contact through to contract award. Pharmaceutical packaging experience is highly desirable, ideally with an established UK pharma network and a proven track record in packaging.

Home based: travel to clients - North East/ North West / Yorkshire Region

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a targeted new-business strategy across the UK pharmaceutical packaging market.
  • Identify and target pharmaceutical manufacturers, CDMOs and other relevant healthcare organisations.
  • Build relationships with key decision-makers and influencers across pharmaceutical businesses.
  • Proactively generate new opportunities through prospecting, networking, referrals, industry contacts and market intelligence.
  • Develop a strong pipeline of qualified pharmaceutical packaging opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities to displace incumbent packaging suppliers and secure new customer relationships.
  • Develop commercially compelling solutions around customers' packaging requirements.
  • Build relationships at multiple levels within target accounts.
  • Manage and grow an existing portfolio of pharmaceutical customers.
  • Protect existing revenue while identifying opportunities for increased share.
  • Introduce additional packaging solutions, products and services where appropriate.
  • Develop strategic account plans for key customers.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the UK pharmaceutical packaging market, customers and competitors.
  • Build and maintain a network of contacts across pharmaceutical manufacturers and related organisations.
  • Identify market trends, upcoming projects, new product launches and packaging requirements.

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Pharmaceutical packaging sales hunter, rather than a traditional account manager.
  • Proven track record of winning new pharmaceutical customers.
  • Strong B2B sales/business development experience within pharmaceutical packaging, print, labels, cartons, leaflets or related regulated products/services.
  • Existing relationships within UK pharmaceutical companies.
  • Experience selling to senior stakeholders across Procurement, Packaging, Supply Chain, Operations, Commercial.
  • Experience managing complex, consultative sales cycles.
  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills.
  • The persistence and resilience required to win significant new accounts.
  • A highly proactive, autonomous and results-driven approach.
  • Strong CRM, pipeline management and forecasting discipline.

Key Measures of Success:

  • New pharmaceutical customers won, new business revenue, Pharmaceutical packaging sales pipeline;
  • Conversion of target accounts;
  • Revenue and margin growth;
  • Growth of existing pharmaceutical accounts.

Salary dependent on experience

Benefits: Car allowance, Pension, PHI scheme. Bonus based on budget sales.
