Purchasing Manager – Aerospace / Engineering Location: Hayes, Middlesex (site-based, hybrid after 3 months) Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 + benefits The Opportunity We are recruiting for an experienced Purchasing Manager to join a specialist aerospace/engineering manufacturer based in Hayes. This is a site-based role initially, moving to a hybrid pattern after 3 months. You’ll lead a small but highly experienced purchasing team and take full ownership of procurement, supplier management, and supply chain strategy. What You’ll Be Doing Oversee the end-to-end procurement process across metals, components, and engineered products. Lead, coach, and develop a small purchasing team, bringing structure and strong controls into daily operations. Manage supplier performance – driving improvements in quality, delivery, cost, and risk mitigation. Build strong relationships with suppliers, including regular UK travel for site visits. Interpret engineering drawings/specifications to support sourcing and supplier selection. Collaborate with internal teams (Operations, Quality, Planning) to ensure aligned procurement activity. Negotiate contracts, RFQs, and terms to achieve cost savings and supply security. About You Experienced Purchasing Manager or senior procurement professional. Background in aerospace, engineering, or manufacturing essential. Strong knowledge of metals, engineered components, and supply chains. Confident in reading and interpreting technical drawings. Excellent leadership and people management skills – able to drive performance in an experienced team. Commercially astute, with proven experience in supplier/vendor management and strategy. ERP systems knowledge (SAP preferred). Flexible to travel for supplier meetings.
