Are you mechanically minded with experience building, assembling or repairing equipment? Looking for a long-term opportunity with a successful engineering manufacturer?

We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established engineering business in Peterborough that designs and manufactures specialist industrial machinery supplied to customers across the UK and internationally.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit a Mechanical Assembler / Workshop Fitter, offering the opportunity to secure a permanent role with ongoing training and development.

The Role

Working within a busy engineering workshop, you'll assist in the assembly and build of bespoke industrial machinery from engineering drawings.

You'll work alongside experienced engineers building high-quality equipment before it is installed at customer sites.

Your duties will include:

  • Mechanical assembly of bespoke machinery and equipment
  • Building sub-assemblies using engineering drawings
  • Using hand and power tools
  • Fitting mechanical components
  • Supporting machine build and final assembly
  • Identifying and reporting build issues
  • Maintaining a safe, clean and organised workshop
  • Occasional travel to customer sites to assist with installations

Every project is different, giving you the opportunity to continually develop your engineering skills.

We're looking for someone with:

  • Previous mechanical assembly or fitting experience
  • Ability to use hand and power tools confidently
  • Experience reading engineering drawings (preferred)
  • Good practical problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
