As an experienced regulatory manager working with the Head of Materials Compliance, you will support the delivery of the organisation's EMEA regulatory strategy and mitigation of regional legal and compliance risks in the food manufacturing and packaging sector. The Regulatory Affairs Manager leads the application of regulatory requirements across a packaging-focused business, ensuring products consistently meet stringent Food Contact, Chemical, and Environmental safety standards.

As an experienced Regulatory Manager, you will act as a technical lead, partnering with Sales, Operations, and R&D to translate complex regulatory changes (including REACH and PPWR) into practical business guidance. You will monitor evolving regulatory landscapes, engage with industry bodies, and ensure compliance documentation is accurate, robust, and aligned with customer and legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead regulatory response strategy for key global customers
  • Author and review Declarations of Compliance (DoCs) and technical position papers
  • Act as technical authority in customer meetings on regulatory and compliance matters
  • Translate complex regulatory requirements into clear, practical business guidance

Supplier Governance & Audit

  • Approve raw materials used in packaging applications (e.g., coatings, inks, compounds)
  • Support supplier qualification and regulatory approval processes
  • Participate in supplier audits and coordinate third-party testing where required
  • Ensure transparency of material data and manage supplier regulatory documentation

Regulatory Intelligence & Industry Engagement

  • Monitor regulatory developments across EMEA (REACH, CLP, PPWR, Food Contact)
  • Represent the business in relevant trade associations and industry groups
  • Provide regulatory impact assessments and executive summaries to senior leadership
  • Support proactive mitigation of emerging regulatory risks

Functional Support & Leadership

  • Provide technical guidance to a small team
  • Maintain regulatory documentation systems and ensure consistency of data

Qualifications / Experience

  • Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Science or related discipline
  • Strong knowledge of EU Food Contact legislation (e.g. Framework Regulation (EC) 1935/2004)
  • Working knowledge of REACH, CLP, and packaging regulations (including PPWR)
  • Experience producing Declarations of Compliance and regulatory documentation
  • Ability to interpret legislation and translate into business impact
  • Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience working in packaging, materials, chemicals, or manufacturing environments

Desirable

  • Supplier audit experience (Lead Auditor certification advantageous)
  • Experience with regulatory databases (e.g. SharePoint, SAP systems)
  • Exposure to circular economy or sustainability-driven packaging regulation

Ability to travel as required with the role on occasion (European).
