Electrical Test Technician – Machine Wiring & Functional Testing | Industrial Automation We’re recruiting for an experienced Electrical Test Technician to join a specialist manufacturer of bespoke industrial machinery. This hands-on role involves full machine wiring, electrical testing, and support across build and installation phases. Ideal for someone with a solid background in electrical systems and a practical, solutions-focused mindset, this position offers long-term career development in a fast-paced engineering environment. Key Responsibilities: Wire and connect complete electrical systems across machinery, including sensors, motors, actuators, and interconnects Perform functional testing, I/O checks, and basic fault-finding prior to commissioning Verify signal paths and validate safe operation before software upload or HMI integration Read and interpret electrical schematics, layout drawings, and BOMs Support electrical installation tasks around the factory (lighting, distribution boards, upgrades) Assist with new machinery installations and electrical improvement projects Collaborate with mechanical and controls teams during system integration Maintain safe working practices and deliver consistent, high-quality builds Skills & Experience: Strong background in machine wiring or industrial electrical assembly Skilled in reading electrical drawings and wiring documentation Hands-on experience with control devices, drives, sensors, and motors (DOL and VFD) Confident in fault-finding and resolving electrical issues during build and test Flexible approach to workshop and on-site electrical support tasks Positive attitude, good team collaboration, and attention to detail Desirable Qualifications: Electrical installation experience (industrial, commercial, or domestic) Recognised qualifications such as 18th Edition or equivalent Exposure to automation systems, PLC/HMI architecture, or drive commissioning tools Background in food machinery, process equipment, or OEM manufacturing Career Progression: This technician role offers clear development pathways into: Controls Engineer (PLC/HMI development, system integration) Test & Validation Technician (QA testing and diagnostics) Electrical Design Technician (EPLAN, BOMs, layouts) Commissioning Engineer (machine validation, customer site testing, UK and international) Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 39 hours/week Early finish Fridays Regular overtime available (paid at 1.5x) Benefits: Annual bonus based on company performance 20 days holiday + bank holidays (rising to 26 with service) Life assurance & pension scheme Sick pay scheme Subsidised snacks & drinks Staff meals and social events Branded workwear provided Salary: Competitive hourly rate + Overtime (1.5x) + Bonus + Benefits Contract: Full-time, Permanent | 39 hours/week + regular overtime Apply Now: If you\’re an experienced Electrical Test Technician looking to work on advanced industrial systems in a collaborative and technically rewarding environment, we’d love to hear from you.
