An experienced Electrical Design Engineer with control panel design expertise is required to join a well-established and growing engineering organisation delivering innovative automation and engineering solutions across a range of industries.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a collaborative, technically strong team environment, where you will play a key role in delivering high-quality engineered solutions from concept through to installation and client support.

You will work closely with Mechanical Design, Software, Project and Installation teams, contributing electrical designs, control panel layouts, schematic drawings, and technical support to both internal teams and external clients. This is primarily an office-based role in the South East, with occasional travel to client or supplier sites as projects require.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic schematics using Eplan Pro Panel
  • Produce control panel layouts, wiring diagrams, cable schedules and component specifications
  • Specify and source components in collaboration with purchasing and software teams to meet project and cost targets
  • Select PLC/HMI hardware alongside software engineers
  • Support service/spares teams with technical queries and parts sourcing
  • Interpret customer specifications (URS) and ensure compliance with project requirements
  • Ensure compliance with relevant electrical standards (e.g. BS7671, IEC 60204, ISO 13849, UL508A, NFPA79, AS3000)
  • Provide technical input to sales enquiries where required
  • Support product quality, testing, inspection and documentation activities
  • Maintain design integrity through calculations and technical reporting
  • Identify replacement solutions for obsolete components
  • Work across low-voltage AC (110V-600V) and extra-low voltage DC systems (typically 24V)
Qualifications & Experience
  • Electrical engineering background, ideally HNC/HND qualified or above
  • Practical electrical wiring experience (mechanical experience beneficial)
  • Electrical CAD experience (Eplan Pro Panel highly desirable)
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with a flexible, problem-solving approach
  • Strong technical drawing interpretation skills and attention to detail
Desirable Experience
  • Control panel design for international markets (e.g. US, Australia)
  • BS7671 qualification
  • Knowledge of PLC platforms such as Mitsubishi, Allen Bradley or Siemens
  • Familiarity with industrial networking (Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, RS232, RS485 etc.)
