An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Lead Business Development Manager to lead a team of Business Development Managers and drive specification-led growth across the UK.

This Lead Business Development Manager is a strategic commercial role focused on developing relationships with major contractors, consultants, end users and industry stakeholders, increasing product specification and converting opportunities into sustainable sales growth within the electricals market.

Specification & Market Development
This is a relationship-led business development role, focused on influencing the market rather than simply selling directly.

You will build strong relationships with electrical contractors, distributors/wholesalers, consultants and specifiers, ensuring the company’s products are understood, considered and specified for relevant projects.

You will identify opportunities, develop relationships with key influencers and work closely with the wider sales team to help turn specifications and recommendations into commercial opportunities.

The focus is on getting the products specified, recommended, stocked and ultimately used and managing a team to do this.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales & Business Development Leadership
  • Lead, coach and develop a national team of 8 Business Development Managers
  • Create and deliver the national business development and specification strategy
  • Set and deliver sales, pipeline and specification targets
  • Build a strong, qualified pipeline of national opportunities
  • Monitor forecasting, conversion and commercial performance
  • Increase product specification and market penetration
  • Develop relationships with major UK electrical contractors, consultants, specifiers and end users
  • Identify new project and market opportunities
  • Drive demand through early-stage specification activity
  • Ensure specified opportunities progress through to successful sales
  • Build strong relationships with senior decision-makers across national accounts
  • Work closely with contractors, consultants, distributors and end users
