An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer of control panels to join a well-established specialist engineering services company delivering bespoke control and automation solutions to industrial process clients across the UK. This role will suit a practical and self-sufficient electrical design engineer who enjoys working on complete panel designs from concept through to manufacture.

The company operates in a highly collaborative environment and is known for delivering technically robust solutions on complex projects. The position is primarily office-based, with occasional visits to customer sites across the UK. A driving licence and access to a vehicle are required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Electrical design of industrial control panels
  • Production of panel layouts and schematic drawings
  • Selection and specification of electrical components
  • Cable sizing and protection device selection (MCBs, fuses etc.)
  • Interpretation of customer specifications and relevant standards
  • Liaison with internal teams and client engineers
  • Supporting projects from design through to build stage
  • Occasional site visits within the UK

This is an opportunity to work with a highly respected engineering business on technically interesting projects, with the potential for longer-term contract extensions. The role would suit a hands-on engineer who enjoys taking ownership of their work and contributing to a collaborative engineering team.

Essential Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience designing industrial control panels
  • Strong AutoCAD experience for electrical design documentation
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical - a strong preference
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong understanding of electrical standards and specifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel
  • Full UK driving licence + car essential
Desirable Skills
  • Ability to help develop or implement an AutoCAD Electrical environment
  • Familiarity with hazardous area requirements
