An experienced Business Development Manager is required to join an established sales team, responsible for identifying, developing and supporting new customers within the electronics manufacturing sector.
This role focuses on creating a strong pipeline of new customers aligned with integrated design and manufacturing solutions, in line with the company's strategic business plan. Particular emphasis will be placed on target markets and start-up businesses where tailored support can help drive growth ambitions.
A key element of the business development role will be ensuring a structured introduction and smooth transition of new customers into the business to support long-term development and retention. This is a remote role with occasional travel to the South East office and customer sites as required (typically flexible, potentially weekly depending on business needs). Salary is dependent on experience.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement strategies to identify target customers capable of delivering revenue objectives
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of new business opportunities
- Gain a thorough understanding of customer markets, performance history and forecasts
- Lead initial bid review meetings, ensuring all required information is available for comprehensive evaluation
- Conduct early-stage due diligence on prospects, including alignment with requirements and financial viability
- Support marketing and brand presence at industry events and networking opportunities
- Promote key differentiators and value propositions
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts and deliver against agreed targets
- Lead regular customer reviews covering forecasts, orders, visits and ongoing activity
- Develop additional business opportunities with existing customers
- Contribute to quarterly business reviews with relevant commercial data
- Produce and distribute visit reports following customer meetings
- Ideally degree-qualified in a relevant technical or business discipline
- Proven experience in a business development or sales role
- Background in electronics manufacturing or a related industry
- PCB knowledge would be desirable
- Technical understanding of electronics design and manufacturing processes
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Professional, calm under pressure and commercially aware
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to prioritise effectively and work both independently and collaboratively
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Commercial awareness with basic financial understanding
