About the Role
We are seeking a driven and commercially focused Business Development Manager to lead growth across a specialist portfolio of surgical products within the South West region. This is a field-based role focused on building strong relationships with healthcare providers, identifying new business opportunities, and expanding market presence across NHS and private healthcare settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to achieve and exceed revenue targets
- Identify and secure new business opportunities across hospitals, clinics, and procurement groups
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including surgeons, theatre staff, procurement teams, and clinical decision-makers
- Promote a range of high-quality surgical products, delivering product demonstrations and training where required
- Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation through to contract negotiation and closure
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs to inform business strategy
- Attend industry events, exhibitions, and conferences to enhance brand presence
- Maintain accurate records of sales activity and pipeline using CRM systems
Requirements
- Proven experience in a business development or sales role within medical devices, ideally surgical products
- Strong understanding of NHS procurement processes and healthcare sales environments
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence key decision-makers
- Highly motivated with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the South West region
Desirable
- Clinical or technical knowledge of surgical environments
- Existing network within NHS trusts or private healthcare providers in the region
- Experience managing tender processes
