Job Purpose: We are seeking a reliable, hard-working, and physically fit Warehouse Operative to join our team in a busy Blackpool warehouse. Operating on a consistent daytime shift from Monday to Friday (8am–4pm), you will play a vital role in handling construction materials, home decor products, and solar panels. While the core hours are weekdays, flexibility is required to work overtime or weekends during peak business seasons, such as the Black Friday period. Previous warehouse experience is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided. A valid Forklift Truck (FLT) licence is also highly advantageous due to the bulky nature of our stock.
Key Responsibilities:
- Specialised Stock Handling: Safely move, store, and organise a diverse inventory ranging from fragile home decor items to heavy construction products and high-value solar panels.
- Order Picking & Packing: Accurately select items from stock according to pick sheets or scanning systems, ensuring careful packing to prevent damage during transit.
- Loading & Unloading: Assist with unloading heavy deliveries from incoming vehicles and loading dispatch containers or delivery vans efficiently.
- Stock Control: Help with inventory management, stock rotation, pallet building, labelling, and reporting any stock discrepancies.
- Manual Handling: Move, lift, and stack items manually throughout the day to keep the operation running smoothly.
- Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, organised, and tidy warehouse environment, ensuring that bulky items do not block walkways, fire exits, or packing stations.
- Health & Safety: Strictly adhere to all company safety guidelines, safe lifting techniques, and operational protocols.
Skills and Qualifications Required:
- Fitness & Health: As this role involves handling heavy construction materials and solar panels, it is physically demanding. A high standard of physical fitness, health, and safe lifting awareness is required.
- Flexibility: Willingness and availability to work overtime hours or weekend shifts during seasonal peak periods (e.g., November/Black Friday run-up).
- Reliability: Excellent timekeeping and a strong, dependable work ethic to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Teamwork & Communication: Strong communication skills with the ability to work cooperatively within a busy team.
Desirable:
- FLT Licence: A valid Counterbalance or Reach Forklift Truck (FLT) qualification is highly desirable due to the size and weight of the construction products and panels.
- Experience: Prior experience working in a warehouse, logistics, or dispatch environment—ideally handling bulky or fragile goods.
What We Offer:
- Competitive Pay: A strong starting rate of £13.50 per hour.
- Generous Annual Leave: 33 days of holiday per year to ensure a great work-life balance.
- Fixed Core Hours: Consistent Monday to Friday daytime schedule for the majority of the year.
- On-Site Perks: Free, secure on-site car parking.
- Financial Security: Access to our workplace opt-out pension scheme.
- Training: Comprehensive onboarding and full training provided on specialised equipment and product handling procedures.
