About the Roles
We are recruiting for three fantastic roles to join our nationally acclaimed Civil Liberties Team to represent clients in civil claims against the Post Office following the Horizon IT scandal and/or related claims or litigation. This is a great opportunity to join an engaging team of specialists, where everyone works closely to deliver the best results for our clients and their families. You will work with a friendly and supportive team on high profile claims arising from the biggest miscarriage of justice in UK legal history.
The successful candidate will be either a qualified solicitor, a chartered Legal Executive or a Litigation Executive and have proven experience in the quantification of loss work whether from a background in serious injury, clinical negligence, industrial disease or civil liberties. Prior experience in civil liberties work is not essential.
We are recruiting for two fee earners who will have their own caseloads who will be of a Grade B experience level or above. We are also recruiting for an assistant fee-earner of minimum Grade C level who will assist an experienced Grade A fee earner or a team.

What you will be doing
- Representing clients with civil actions from inception through to conclusion.
- Liaising with clients, counsel, defendants and other parties.
- Collating and reviewing documentation and evidence.
- A core focus on forensic loss analysis and preparation and drafting of complex schedules of loss.
- Obtaining medical/accountancy evidence when required and have the ability to interpret that evidence and advise accordingly.
- Expeditiously progressing cases in line with legal parameters and government frameworks while managing client expectations.
- Litigating cases.
- Actively engaging in business development to ensure high visibility of the department and wider company.
- Developing the skills of junior colleagues in the department.
- Adhering closely to client protocol and process.
- Complying with the required standard for internal procedures.
- Any other duties commensurate with this post.
What you will need
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Proven experience and aptitude with quantification of claims, forensic loss work, preparing complex schedules of loss including past and future losses.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Post Office Horizon scandal and the resulting claims and litigation.
- The ability to draft letters of claim/instruction, witness statements and complex schedules of loss.
- Have the ability to gather, scrutinise and fact check evidence with a proven forensic approach.
- Exceptional client care and the ability to work sympathetically and effectively with a wide range of clients with substantial vulnerabilities and differing needs.
- Litigation experience is desirable but not essential.
- Have excellent organisational skills and time management skills, including the ability to prioritise multiple pending tasks and provide realistic timescales for completion, to ensure that key deadlines are met.
- Be respectful towards others and have a positive, willing and \’can do’ attitude.
- Be keen to learn, interested in driving your own career progression and be proactive in taking ownership of this.
