So, what will you be doing?
- Working closely with the leadership team to understand the business priorities and define the public affairs strategy to support these outcomes.
- Raising the profile of the business and their key activities within the UK political environment and renewable energy sector.
- Interpreting political and regulatory changes and their impact on the UK energy transition, and specifically the role of the business in this.
- Using political intelligence to determine relevant stakeholders based on prevailing organisational requirements.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders and attending relevant events to broaden networks and to represent the interests of the business.
- Opening doors and facilitating opportunities for internal stakeholders to engage with external stakeholders
- Using appropriate campaign methodologies to influence public policy over the short, medium and long terms.
- Feeding back current ‘thought leadership’ on key topics and issues to appropriate internal stakeholders.
- Representing the views of the business in consultation responses on policy initiatives and on relevant bills going through parliament.
- Working with the Communications Manager to ensure that the company story is told via innovative communication techniques.
- This is a hybrid role offering a combination of remote working with 1-2 days per week in the Northampton offices. The role will require time spent in London for meetings, so could suit someone based in either location.

- You’ll be an established public affairs manager with broad awareness of current affairs, and solid background knowledge of renewables and power generation in the UK.
- Expert knowledge of UK and EU political systems and processes.
- Knowledge of best practice communications across political, business, public and government contexts and cultures.
- Outstanding relationship building skills, with proven ability to network and influence key stakeholders.
- Excellent research and project management skills
- Ability to think critically and analytically.
- Adaptable and thrives on change, willing to shift quickly in response to business needs.
- An interest in environmental issues with a passion for contributing to a more sustainable future.
- Self-motivated and happy to be relatively autonomous in a busy and varied role.
