I’m working on a Programme Manager opportunity with a highly respected London-based pension scheme, offering a great blend of strategic oversight and hands-on leadership. This role will see you managing a portfolio of business change initiatives while leading a small Business Development team (including Business Analysts, a Developer Analyst, and a Junior PM). You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders, owning programme governance, reporting, budgets, and risk, ensuring projects are delivered effectively across the organisation. With a 35-hour week, hybrid working (2–3 days from home), and a strong pension and benefits package, this is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Programme or Senior Project Manager looking to step into a broad, high-impact role within a stable, well-regarded environment.
The role:
- You’ll take ownership of a portfolio of business and change initiatives, ensuring projects are delivered effectively across scope, budget, and timelines.
- Alongside this, you’ll be managing the Business Development Team, made up of three Pensions Business Analysts (two junior, one senior), a Developer Analyst, and a Junior Project Manager, ensuring work is prioritised effectively and delivered to a high standard.
- You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders (including Programme Board and Executive Team), providing clear reporting, oversight, and control across all active projects.
You’ll also play a key role in:
- Leading programme governance and reporting
- Managing budgets, forecasting, and resource planning
- Overseeing risk and ensuring strong control frameworks
- Supporting business planning and strategic delivery
- Coordinating cross-functional teams and external partners
Why this role stands out:
- Opportunity to lead and develop a small, high-impact team
- High level of exposure to senior decision-makers
- Ability to shape how projects are delivered across the organisation
- A broad, end-to-end programme role (not just project delivery)
- Stable, well-regarded organisation within the pensions sector
Ideal background:
- Experienced Programme or Senior Project Manager (10+ years)
- Project Management qualification e.g. Prince 2 Practitioner, Agile
- Solid experience working in a pensions environment with DB and DC scheme experience
- Proven experience leading or mentoring delivery teams
- Strong background in governance, reporting, and stakeholder management
- Confident managing budgets, risks, and multiple workstreams
