We are seeking an experienced Pension Investment Accountant to join a specialist Group Pensions team. This is a highly technical role offering exposure across pension finance, investment operations, governance, regulatory reporting, and taxation. You will play a key role in ensuring pension schemes remain fully compliant with statutory and regulatory requirements while supporting investment reporting, financial control, and trustee governance.

Working closely with internal stakeholders, custodians, investment managers, auditors, and trustees, you will provide expert investment accounting support across a diverse and complex investment portfolio. This role is ideal for a technically strong accountant with proven experience in pension scheme accounting, fund accounting, or investment operations.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly Net Asset Value (NAV) statements and ensure compliance with Scheme Investment Principles (SIP)
  • Support production of Trustee Reports and Annual Accounts, including investment disclosures and supporting schedules
  • Review investment accounting reports from custodians and property managers, investigating and resolving discrepancies
  • Maintain investment ledgers and prepare accounting journals on a quarterly basis or as required
  • Manage capital calls, distributions, and outstanding investment commitments
  • Produce trustee investment performance and management reporting
  • Prepare pension scheme tax, regulatory, and statutory returns, ensuring timely submission and payment
  • Manage international tax documentation and monitor tax recovery claims
  • Support internal and external audits, responding to audit queries efficiently
  • Maintain financial controls, mandates, authorised signatories, and governance documentation
  • Prepare papers for Investment Committees, Audit Committees, and Trustee Boards
  • Monitor operational cashflows and provide support across pensions finance and treasury operations
Qualifications
  • Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent)
Required Skills
  • Proven experience in pension scheme accounting, investment accounting, or fund accounting
  • Strong understanding of pension accounting standards and SORP
  • Experience preparing financial statements and investment disclosures
  • Experience with investment reconciliations and custodian reporting
  • Knowledge of pension scheme taxation, regulatory returns, and compliance requirements
  • Experience supporting audit processes and maintaining strong financial controls
Preferred Skills
  • Candidates from the following sectors are particularly encouraged to apply: Pension funds or pension administrators, Asset management or investment operations, Custodian banking, Insurance or financial services, Accountancy practice with pension or investment audit exposure
  • Experience with complex asset classes such as property, private debt, alternatives, or liability-driven investments (LDI) would be advantageous.
