Overview
Post Title: Data Collection and Insight Analyst Department/Location: First Team Analysis, Canalside Training Centre Reports To: Head of Technical Scouting, Sporting Director
The role is embedded within the Club, focused on building and maintaining bespoke football datasets across First Team Performance and Player Recruitment, and transforming that information into insights that directly support football decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and quality assure bespoke football data across First Team Performance and Player Recruitment, delivering accurate, reliable, and actionable datasets.
- Maintain high standards of data accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail, with a proactive approach to data reliability.
- Analyse performance and recruitment data to identify meaningful trends, patterns, and insights to inform evidence-based decision-making across the football department.
- Collaborate with Coaching, Player Recruitment, Analysis, and other First Team functions to understand operational needs and deliver data-driven support that enhances planning, preparation, and player evaluation.
- Manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work within demanding deadlines, including providing support around evening and weekend fixtures as required.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of data collection methodologies, documentation, and best practices to drive efficiency, innovation, and consistency.
- Stay up to date with emerging trends, technologies, and analytical approaches within football and sports performance.

- Functional Links – Internal: Performance Analysts; Player Recruitment Staff; Coaching Staff; Physical Performance Team; Football Administration Manager / Academy Secretary; Players; Sporting Director and Senior Leadership Team; Staff and Managers throughout the organisation.
- External – includes, but not limited to: Performance and Insights Analysts from other clubs; Regulatory bodies (e. g., Premier League, EFL, FA).
- Other duties as required by the Head of Technical Scouting, Sporting Director, and/or Senior Leader.
