The Governors of Hucknall National C of E Primary School are seeking to appoint a reliable, proactive and hardworking Assistant Caretaker to support the smooth running, safety and cleanliness of our school site. This role is one hour per day, Monday to Friday, term time only, with additional overtime available as required.

Working under the direction of senior staff and the Premises Team, the successful candidate will undertake day to day minor repairs, basic maintenance, cleaning and general handyperson duties to ensure our school remains a clean, safe and welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carrying out minor repairs to buildings and equipment as identified by senior staff
  • Maintaining school grounds to a high standard
  • Litter picking across the school site
  • Emptying and cleaning bins and removing waste to designated areas
  • Cleaning designated areas, including overhead kitchen canopies
  • Removing graffiti from internal and external surfaces
  • Porterage duties as required
  • Setting up rooms for meetings, events and examinations
  • Maintaining grassed areas and clearing garden debris and fallen leaves
  • Cleaning drains and gulleys
  • Salting, de-icing and snow clearance during winter months to ensure safe access
  • Responding to emergencies outside normal working hours (e.g., intruders, fire, flooding) when required
  • Any other reasonable duties consistent with the nature and grade of the post
