Some of Your Responsibilities

  • Own the optimization of payment success across first purchases, upsells, and subscription renewals, with a sharp focus on incremental successful revenue.
  • Analyze payment performance across countries, currencies, card networks, issuers, BINs, payment methods, products, price points, devices, browsers, and decline reasons to identify the biggest opportunities.
  • Separate and diagnose the main sources of payment loss, including issuer declines, authentication failures, technical failures, and customer abandonment.
  • Improve authorization rates by designing and testing routing, cascading, and retry strategies based on issuer, geography, currency, card type, and historical performance.
  • Optimize the use of network tokens, stored credentials, account updater services, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and local payment methods to improve approval and recovery rates.
  • Work closely with Product, Engineering, Data, Growth, Subscription, Monetization, Finance, and Risk teams to improve the checkout and recovery experience.
  • Analyze the checkout funnel end to end and identify conversion loss caused by fields, validation, payment method availability, authentication steps, messaging, or payment presentation.
  • Own failed payment recovery strategies, including decline-specific retries, retry timing, retry frequency, dunning flows, card update journeys, and grace periods.
  • Build and maintain a prioritized payment optimization roadmap and run controlled experiments to validate what actually moves revenue.
  • Define clear payment analytics frameworks and dashboards with consistent metrics for attempts, authorization, success, failure, retry, and recovery.
  • Translate insights into action by quantifying revenue impact, scaling successful experiments, and documenting learnings clearly.

What We Look For

  • Strong analytical thinking and a highly structured approach to solving payment problems.
  • Hands-on experience working with payment performance, checkout optimization, authorization, retries, or subscription recovery.
  • A clear understanding of how payment success can be influenced by issuer behavior, geography, currency, card type, authentication, and checkout design.
  • Ability to turn complex payment data into clear business opportunities and measurable revenue impact.
  • Experience designing and interpreting experiments, and comfort making decisions based on data rather than assumptions.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with Product, Engineering, Data, Growth, Finance, and risk-related stakeholders.
  • A practical mindset: someone who is focused on outcomes, moves fast, and can balance strategic thinking with execution.
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving environment where priorities can shift and ownership matters.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical and commercial trade-offs in a clear and concise way.
  • Curiosity, ownership, and a strong sense of accountability for improving the payment experience end to end.
