We’re hiring a commercially strong solicitor who can step into a live business, give clear advice fast, and keep legal, privacy and contract work moving. We need a solicitor who can add value quickly. This role covers contracts, privacy, GDPR, compliance and day-to-day legal support across Hubexo. It is ideal for someone who can work at pace, give practical advice, and support the business through a key fixed-term period.
About Hubexo: We provide cutting-edge data, insights, and software solutions to the global construction industry. We specialise in project information, eTendering, product information, market intelligence, and specification. We help the world build better by delivering unrivalled insights and technology that shape places where people live, work and play.
The Role: We are looking for an In-House Legal Associate to join Hubexo on a 6-month fixed-term contract. This role sits within Corporate Services and reports to our Chief People Officer. It is based in Newcastle upon Tyne and is offered on a 4-day-per-week basis. This is a role for a commercially strong solicitor who can step in quickly, provide practical legal support, and help us maintain continuity across legal, contractual, privacy and compliance activity. You will work across a varied workload and support teams across the business with sound judgement, clear advice and a calm, hands-on approach. This is not a role focused on building future structures from scratch. It is about keeping important legal work moving, supporting the business well, and helping us manage risk with clarity and pace.
What you’ll be doing: You will provide day-to-day commercial legal advice across Hubexo, helping stakeholders navigate legal issues in a practical and commercially sensible way. You will draft, review and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including service agreements, licences, terms and conditions, consultancy agreements, employment-related documents, novations and non-disclosure agreements. You will support customer and supplier contracts, balancing legal risk with commercial priorities. You will also support privacy and data protection activity, including GDPR advice, internal policies and good practice. Alongside this, you will help maintain legal and compliance policies covering areas such as privacy, data protection, cookies and acceptable use. The role will also involve supporting intellectual property matters, including trademarks where needed, contributing to company compliance and governance activity, and keeping legal records, templates, registers and documentation accurate and up to date. You will manage input from external legal advisers where specialist support is needed and help ensure that support is well targeted and cost effective. You will also support key business priorities across Hubexo, including product changes, privacy controls, copyright licensing, customer legal queries and security due diligence activity where legal input is required. This is a varied role with broad exposure across teams, products and business activity.
About You: You are a qualified solicitor with strong post-qualification experience in commercial legal work. You are confident drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts, and you know how to give clear, practical advice in a business environment. You bring strong experience in data protection, privacy and GDPR matters, along with the judgement to balance legal risk with commercial reality. You may have built that experience in-house or in a leading law firm supporting commercial clients. In either case, you are comfortable working closely with non-legal stakeholders and explaining legal points in a way that helps people make decisions. You are organised, detail-focused and able to manage a varied workload without losing pace or quality. You can work independently, become effective quickly, and bring a proactive, solutions-focused mindset to a fixed-term role. Experience with intellectual property, trademarks, governance, international legal matters, or formal DPO activity would be useful, but they are not essential.
