Business Development Representative

Newcastle upon Tyne | Hybrid, three days per week in the office
Competitive salary | OTE £32,000 | Uncapped commission
We’re looking for a Business Development Representative to join our NBS Specifier team in Newcastle upon Tyne.
This is a new business role focused on creating qualified opportunities with organisations that are not currently purchasing NBS solutions.
You’ll be speaking with architects, architectural technologists, architectural designers, specifiers, design consultants and multi-disciplinary consultancies, helping them understand how NBS can support better specification and design workflows.
If you’re building your sales career and want a role where your activity directly contributes to meetings, pipeline and earning potential, this could be a strong next step.

What you’ll be doing

  • Creating qualified new business opportunities through outbound prospecting.
  • Researching target organisations and identifying relevant decision-makers.
  • Speaking with prospective customers by phone, email, LinkedIn Sales Navigator and other digital channels.
  • Understanding customer challenges, specification workflows and commercial needs.
  • Qualifying opportunities before introducing them to a Business Development Manager.
  • Booking meetings, demonstrations and commercial conversations.
  • Keeping CRM records accurate and up to date.
  • Contributing to activity, opportunity and pipeline targets.
  • Sharing useful customer feedback and market insight with Sales and Marketing colleagues.

What we’re looking for

We're looking for someone who is curious, commercially minded and confident speaking with new people.
Whether you've already worked in a BDR, SDR, lead generation or customer-facing sales role, or you're looking to take the next step in your sales career, you'll be comfortable picking up the phone, asking good questions and building credibility with senior professionals.
Does this sound like you?

  • Enjoys the challenge of turning cold prospects into warm opportunities.
  • Likes working towards clear goals and being rewarded for performance.
  • Is resilient, proactive and comfortable in a new business environment.
  • Takes ownership of results rather than waiting for opportunities to come to them.
  • Excited to develop commercial skills within a specialist technology business.
  • Is motivated by earning potential through OTE and uncapped commission.

It would be useful if you have experience in one of the following areas:

  • Business Development Representative, BDR or SDR roles.
  • Telesales, lead generation or outbound sales.
  • Customer-facing sales or account development.
  • CRM systems or LinkedIn Sales Navigator.
  • Construction, architecture, specification, design or built environment markets.

You do not need to know the construction specification market from day one. What matters is curiosity, confidence, coachability and the motivation to create opportunities.

Why this role

This role gives you the chance to build sales experience in a specialist commercial team, working with a recognised brand in the construction technology market.
You’ll develop your skills in prospecting, qualification, CRM discipline, customer conversations and pipeline creation, while working with a clear customer audience and a commercially focused team.

Ready to build your future

If you’re motivated by new business, customer conversations and the opportunity to build your sales career, we’d like to hear from you.
