Director of DevOps

The Role: We’re hiring a Director of DevOps to take the reins of our global AWS cloud estate—and lead the high-performing team of Cloud Engineers that support it. This is your chance to architect a world-class DevOps function at the heart of Hubexo’s technology engine. You’ll be trusted to drive performance, reliability, security, and cost optimisation across our cloud platforms. It’s a critical leadership role where your decisions directly impact how we deliver value to the construction sector. This is what you’ll be doing:

• Own our cloud infrastructure strategy, translating business vision into scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions.
• Lead and mentor our global Cloud Engineering team—build culture, sharpen skills, and drive performance.
• Embed FinOps practices that deliver transparency and control over AWS spend—without slowing down innovation.
• Partner with Software Engineers to build efficient, developer-first infrastructure using tools like EKS, ECS, and Docker.
• Deliver continuous improvement through CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), and automation.
• Ensure security is non-negotiable—own IAM, encryption, WAF, and compliance frameworks like ISO 27001.
• Implement incident management strategies that minimise downtime and accelerate mean time to recovery.
• Design resilient, scalable architectures with HA, DR, and monitoring built-in.
• Foster collaboration across Tech Delivery, Product, Finance, and Security to ensure alignment and impact.

About You: You’re a proven leader in DevOps and Cloud Engineering with deep AWS expertise. You understand the balance between control and freedom, speed and safety, ambition and accountability. You’ll likely bring:

• Real-world experience owning complex AWS estates (EKS, ECS, EC2, RDS, Lambda, Route 53, VPC, IAM).
• A track record of building and scaling CI/CD pipelines in cloud-native environments.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform or CloudFormation to manage infrastructure as code.
• Knowledge of cloud security, compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST), and cost optimisation.
• Leadership experience—mentoring, coaching, and inspiring high-performing teams.
• A FinOps mindset—you track cost, own budgets, and influence cloud investment decisions.
• Strong cross-functional communication skills—you can influence product, finance, and security teams.
• Certifications such as AWS DevOps Engineer or Solutions Architect (Professional) are a bonus—but not a deal-breaker.
