The Product Engineer is responsible for developing, testing, and analysing product integration solutions to ensure high-quality products are manufactured in line with the operations strategy for new product, material, and process introduction.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop robust test solutions for verification and validation of product performance to meet specified requirements.
- Assist new product developments from design to manufacture, supporting the transfer to manufacturing of the assembly and test processes for switches.
- Collaborate with engineers from a multi-disciplinary team to create tools that improve test coverage and team efficiency.
- Create test equipment to support verification testing and production testing, including electro-optical testing, analysis of results, and report writing.
- Develop hardware and software solutions to deliver test solutions within a given budget and timescale.
- Define procedures and test tools for de-skilling of complex processes.
- Specify testing requirements for new designs going into volume manufacture.
- Support the evaluation and introduction to manufacturing of cost savings and improvements to supply chain security, including standardisation.
- Write procurement specifications for third-party companies to produce ATE, bed-of-nail fixtures and other bespoke test platforms.
Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering subject or physics.
- 3‑5 years of industry experience.
- Strong test background and competence in fault‑finding complex integration systems and subsystems.
- Methodical and structured problem‑solving approach.
- Experience in verification, test design, process development and transfer into manufacturing.
- Excellent verbal and written communication with multi‑disciplined engineers and managers.
- Organised, independent and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Energy, enthusiasm, and the ability to get work done.
- Commitment to quality and on‑time delivery.
- Willingness to travel to volume manufacturing sites when required.
