As an Electronic Engineer, you will play a key role in bringing new PCB designs into life, verifying product performance, and ensuring exceptional product reliability through rigorous test development and structured problem-solving. This role involves working across the full engineering lifecycle—from concept and verification through to supporting production and field-returned products.
This position requires a strong foundation in analogue, digital, embedded, and power electronics, with a methodical, hands-on approach to engineering challenges. You will have the opportunity to influence design quality, develop bespoke test solutions, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver world-class products.
Responsibilities- Create, execute, and maintain verification test plans for new designs.
- Develop test requirements that maximise PCB assembly test coverage and ensure robust validation against customer specifications.
- Design, build, and document test equipment for verification and production use.
- Use scripting or automation tools to streamline testing, data analysis, and reporting.
- Produce detailed technical reports summarising test results and PASS/FAIL status.
- Deliver hardware and software-based test solutions within agreed budgets and timelines.
- Support introduction and verification of third-party test equipment and fixtures.
- Fault-find complex electronic assemblies to component level, including FPGAs, embedded processors, analogue/digital circuitry, and power electronics.
- Lead structured root-cause investigations for recurring or pattern-based failures observed in production or by CEMs.
- Collaborate with production teams to identify emerging issues and support cross-discipline engineering problem-solving.
- Create procurement specifications for ATE systems, bed-of-nails fixtures, and bespoke test platforms.
- Produce documentation to support manual test procedures, rework processes, and production workflows.
- HNC or higher in Electronic Engineering (or relevant discipline).
- 3+ years of engineering experience in a product development or manufacturing environment.
- Strong schematic-reading ability and understanding of functional circuit blocks.
- Proven capability in diagnosing faults to component level and completing structured reports (e.g., 8D).
- Solid background in analogue, digital, power, and embedded electronics.
- Proficient with oscilloscopes, DVMs, PSUs, function generators, and general lab equipment.
- Confident hands-on skills: soldering, PCB rework, modifications, prototyping.
- Understanding of PCB and PCBA manufacturing processes.
- Experience with data analysis, scripting, macros, or software tools.
- Knowledge of DFM and DFT principles.
- Strong communication skills, including interactions with suppliers and manufacturing partners.
- Self-motivated, organised, and enthusiastic with a problem-solving mindset.
