We are seeking a highly motivated SHEQ Manager with a strong Health and Safety background to lead the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of our Integrated Management System. The role will primarily focus on Health & Safety, while also supporting Quality and Environmental compliance in accordance with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards.
HUBER Technology is an ‘Investors in People’ Gold company specializing in environmental engineering worldwide, with a UK operation based in Chippenham and three regional offices. We focus on delivering wastewater treatment solutions to the UK and Irish water industries. We also provide aftersales care and an extensive range of wastewater treatment machines for short- and long-term hire.
The position is ideally Chippenham-based, but we are open to a hybrid arrangement for the right candidate, with willingness to travel to Chippenham regularly. The travel to the head office should not exceed three hours. The role involves some travel to customer sites and regional offices across the UK, offering the opportunity to collaborate closely with colleagues nationally and with our German parent company, making a visible impact across the business.
Key Objectives:
- Maintain, develop, and continually improve the company’s SHEQ management systems, emphasizing Health and Safety.
- Promote a positive SHEQ culture at all organizational levels.
- Ensure legal compliance and embed best practices into operations.
- Engage with internal teams, customers, and stakeholders to optimize SHEQ processes.
- Support strategic planning to integrate SHEQ into broader business objectives.
Core Responsibilities:
Health and Safety (Primary Focus):
- Lead the implementation of ISO 45001 Health & Safety management system.
- Ensure compliance with UK H&S legislation, maintaining risk assessments, legal registers, and incident reports.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses; coordinate corrective and preventative actions.
- Conduct site audits, toolbox talks, SHEQ inductions, and raise safety awareness.
- Maintain and review the Health & Safety risk register, supporting operational teams with guidance.
- Represent the company at safety events, industry groups (e.g., WOSHA), and with customers.
Quality:
- Manage and support ISO 9001 Quality management system.
- Coordinate internal and external audits (e.g., certification bodies, customers, Achilles, CHAS).
- Lead the Quality Focus Group, manage non-conformances (NCRs), and liaise with the parent company in Germany.
- Support documentation control, supplier/contractor audits, and tender documentation.
- Maintain the Environmental register and support waste management and transfer note compliance.
Contribute to Carbon Footprint reporting (ISO 14064) and sustainability initiatives.
Reporting & Communication:
- Produce monthly SHEQ reports for Directors and management.
- Support ERP data management and document control processes.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including customers, auditors, and regulators.
Your Profile:
- NEBOSH qualification (minimum), with Tech IOSH membership preferred.
- Proven experience in Health & Safety management, ideally in engineering, construction, or manufacturing sectors.
- Deep understanding of UK H&S legislation, ISO 45001, and working knowledge of ISO 9001 & 14001.
- Ability to interpret and apply legislative and customer-specific requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing at all levels.
- Highly organized with strong time management and prioritization skills.
- Solution-focused, customer-driven, and commercially aware.
- Proficient in IT, ERP systems, and document control platforms.
- Full, clean UK driving license.
