Huber Group

We are now looking to fill this permanent position to be based at our Head Office in Chippenham with potential flexible working arrangements on completion of a thorough training period.

HUBER Technology is an “Investors in People” Gold company which specialises in environmental engineering throughout the world, and with a UK operation based in Chippenham focused on delivering wastewater treatment solutions for the UK water industry.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will join a small, collaborative team responsible for the design of both bespoke and standard control panels, as well as electrical installation schematics, for a variety of wastewater treatment projects.

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Design Engineer with strong interpersonal abilities and a solid understanding of low-voltage motor control panel design. Working closely with the Lead Electrical Design Engineer, you will take ownership of panel layout drawings and electrical installation designs, ensuring all control systems meet required performance, safety, and compliance standards while remaining technically and commercially viable.

A minimum of 2 years using electrical design software is vital, preferably in machinery or industrial automation.

Responsibilities

  • Create detailed electrical schematics, 2D layouts, and wiring diagrams for control panels, compliant with customer specifications and industry standards using CAD software for electrical design (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar).
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate electrical systems into new machinery.
  • Support the panel assembly team during build and testing phases of control panels.
  • Document design revisions, support DCNs (Design Change Notices), and participate in design reviews.
  • Support the commissioning team to ensure successful FAT and SAT.

Qualifications

  • Completed a formal qualification in an Engineering discipline.
  • Demonstrated practical engineering approach to develop cost‑effective solutions that meet customer requirements.
  • Proficient in CAD software for electrical design (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar).
  • Experience with machine safety and functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 13849) is desirable.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Enjoys the technical aspects of the role.
  • Experience in a dynamic engineering role and attention to detail.
  • Enjoys working with a variety of people and applies a logical approach to work.
  • Conversant with an internal ERP system after training.

The role requires somebody who enjoys managing specialised work efficiently, with confidence and competence, and the opportunity to become a technical expert on HUBER products, while interfacing with different internal and external stakeholders. The candidate must demonstrate attention to detail, concern for correctness, and a strong commitment to tasks completed on time, with enthusiasm for learning.

As the right candidate, you will be highly self‑motivated, driven to get things done, focused on precision, and eager to understand client specifications. You are conscientious, resourceful, and enjoy owning tasks and projects.

We offer an interesting role that provides ownership, a competitive salary and benefits package, and sound development opportunities in an organisation that has strong core values and where people matter to protect and enhance the environment.
