The Semiconductor Process Engineering Manager is a key technical and leadership role within the business and has responsibility for wafer process development as well as accountability for end to end delivery in the wafer fab. Working in an environment primarily with a mix of high-end R&D but also low volume high quality production, this role is key to ensuring efficient development of next generation products, and meeting our customer needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership
- Drive process innovation to enable the business technical roadmap
- Own end to end on time delivery in the wafer fab for R&D and low volume production
- Ensure all team members have clear goals with aligned deliverables to meet the needs of our customers
- Ensure robust performance management to ensure ongoing development of the team
- Drive the skills development programme to ensure teams have the capability, capacity and resilience to deliver on time in a multi project environment
- Demonstrate core behavioural characteristics and instil collaborative and innovative working across the team to achieve objectives
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement, where teams capture and embed learning in design of future processes
- Ensure application of proper health and safety working practices, to adhere to company guidelines and best practice

- Lead process development to ensure that process capability and toolset stays at the forefront and enable the technology roadmap
- Drive best practice in improvement techniques and structured problem-solving utilising lean six sigma methodology where applicable
- Use a data driven approach to drive rapid R&D iteration and success for new processes and devices
- Drive structured yield improvement within all processes

Person Specification:
- Required:
- First degree or higher, in a relevant technical discipline, for example: Engineering, Materials Science, Physics or Chemistry
- At least 5 years of wafer fab experience and at least first experience in a technical leadership position
- Broad technical experience in semiconductor process techniques
- Good knowledge of III-V materials and processing
- Well-developed team building skills
- Desired:
- Post-graduate qualification in a relevant technology area
- Experience with laser ICs and/or the manufacture of optical devices
- Ability to drive new materials assessment and development in an R&D environment
