We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Radiation Protection Advisor (RPA) to join our newly established Radiation Protection Team. This role represents the start of our external RPA consultancy service, where you will play a key role in developing strong relationships with regulators, customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders. As the business grows, you will be responsible for expanding and leading a team of RPAs to support both internal and external clients. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on a wide range of projects across various industries, contributing to the continued success and growth of HTSL Group. Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for providing expert support on all internal radiation protection matters and working with Group EHSQ Manager to ensure compliance and safety on all sites across HTSL Group.
- Providing clear and concise advice to clients on radiation compliance issues, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and review radiation risk assessments, procedures, and safety cases.
- Conduct audits and inspections (both onshore and offshore) and ensure timely reporting.
- Provide guidance on the safe use, handling, storage, and disposal of radioactive materials.
- Offer expert advice on radiological detection equipment.
- Deliver radiation protection training courses to clients and internal teams.
- Act on behalf of all sites in the HTSL Group as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies such as HSE, ONR, EA, NRW, and support compliance inspections.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Radiation Protection Advisor role.
- RPA certification (RPA2000) β ESSENTIAL.
- Radioactive Waste Adviser (RWA) certification or progress towards qualification β desirable.
- DGSA certification or strong knowledge of Class 7 transport regulations β desirable.
- Strong leadership and team development skills.
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset with a βCan Doβ attitude and a strong willingness to both learn and share knowledge.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with clients and regulators.
- Commercial awareness and a strategic approach to business development.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to safety and compliance.
- Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for this role.
- Willingness to travel between HTSL Group and Customer Sites as required.
