As a Health Care Assistant, you will be supporting clients with their day to day care needs in home care and community based settings. You will help clients remain safe, comfortable and supported while promoting dignity, independence and wellbeing. The role may involve supporting older people, vulnerable adults and individuals who require assistance with personal care, mobility, companionship and daily routines.

Responsibilities

  • Helping clients with personal care tasks, including washing, showering, dressing and using the toilet
  • Supporting clients with meals, drinks and eating where required
  • Assisting with mobility, transfers and safe movement around the home
  • Talking to clients to ease loneliness and provide companionship
  • Listening to the needs of clients and responding appropriately
  • Helping to maintain a clean, safe and comfortable living environment
  • Supporting clients with daily routines and encouraging independence where possible
  • Observing and reporting any changes in the client’s health, mood or wellbeing
  • Recording and reporting care progression, incidents, accidents and concerns
  • Ensuring clients are treated with dignity, respect and protection from abuse at all times
  • Following care plans, company policies and safeguarding procedures
  • Working closely with the care team and reporting updates to senior staff where needed
