A great opportunity has arisen at Thai by Ja and Charter Guest House, for an Apprentice in Hospitality. Depending on your level of experience, this will be either a level 2 or level 3. Are you enthusiastic and keen to learn? We will teach you the knowledge, skills and behaviour necessary for this opportunity.

Thai by Ja restaurant and boutique guest house in the heart of Newport, Isle of Wight is seeking a motivated and hands-on Apprentice to learn and contribute across all areas of the business. This is not a standard role - it is a rotational apprenticeship programme designed to develop a well-rounded operator capable of understanding and eventually managing the full day-to-day running of the business.

You will gain real-world experience in hospitality, administration, customer service, marketing, and operations, working closely with the owners. This role is ideal for someone who wants to learn how a small business truly runs, is practical, proactive, and not afraid to get stuck in. Someone that takes pride in high standards and guest experience and is looking for long-term growth, not just a job. Age is no barrier - the right person is the RIGHT person no matter age, sex, orientation or religion.

    • Room preparation and cleaning standards
    • Quality control and presentation

    • Food prep assistance
    • Understanding kitchen flow and hygiene standards
    • Supporting chefs during service
  • Front of House (Restaurant)
    • Welcoming and serving guests
    • Taking orders and handling payments

Hours & Flexibility

Hours are flexible and may include evenings and weekends. Shift patterns will vary depending on operational needs. We are open to structuring the role around the right candidate.

Apprenticeship Qualification

The successful candidate will be fully supported by our training partner, HTP Apprenticeship College to achieve either a level 2 or Level 3 Hospitality apprenticeship standard. The successful candidate will need to meet the eligibility criteria for Government funding.
