A superb opportunity has become available with NFU Mutual who are looking to employ an Apprentice Commercial Account Handler. The role will be based at the Office in Newport, Isle of Wight. The successful applicant will also be undertaking the Level 2 Customer Service practitioner apprenticeship with HTP Apprenticeship College.

The Job Role

  • To support the New Forest, Isle of Wight and Bournemouth Agency to deliver growth and the retention of business.
  • To acquire and maintain knowledge of NFU Mutual General Insurance products, as applicable to product licences.
  • Comply with all guidelines and processes as communicated by the NFU Mutual and the agents.
  • To develop and sustain effective working relationships, with all members of the agency and NFU Mutual staff.
  • To deal with insurance enquiries by phone, email and face to face in the office and process the changes requested by the customer.
  • To maintain record keeping in line with the requirements for your role.
  • To identify and initiate up‑selling and cross‑selling opportunities and activities to new and existing customers.
  • To act as a Life Introducer to obtain appointments for Life Qualifier and meeting Agency Target.
  • To produce correspondence and responses to required timeframes and quality standards.
  • To process and dispatch documentation to agency standards.
  • To identify opportunities to improve the service provided to customers and the team efficiency.
  • To attend shows and events as required to promote the Agency and sell the products and services of The NFU Mutual.

The Candidate

  • The role involves contacting customers/potential customers by phone, so you should be comfortable in making and taking phone calls.
  • Team work is important, but you should also be comfortable in working on your own and using your own initiative.
  • Planning and organisation is key, but this can be taught on the apprenticeship.
  • Sales skills are key, as is being able to understand the product range and being confident in talking about them.
  • Candidates should ideally have achieved GCSE Maths and English at grades A‑C (9‑4) or functional skills level 2 in both or may have to work towards this to complete the apprenticeship.

Working Hours

37 ½ Hours per week. Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5pm, with an hour for lunch.
