The role
- Manage and oversee the day-to-day transport operation.
- Plan and coordinate daily workloads, vehicle movements and driver allocations.
- Ensure sufficient drivers and vehicles are available to meet operational and customer requirements.
- Monitor progress throughout the day to ensure planned work is completed on time and efficiently.
- Communicate with drivers regarding job allocations, schedules, delays and operational changes.
- Liaise with customers, subcontractors and the night transport team to ensure smooth operationalhandovers.
- Deal with operational issues, delays, breakdowns, driver absences and last-minute changes.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Valid Transport Manager CPC qualification– essential.
- Previous experience in a Transport Manager, Transport Supervisor or senior transport role.
- Strong HGV/haulage experience.
- Good knowledge of UK transport legislation and Operator Licence requirements.
- Strong understanding of drivers' hours and Working Time Regulations.
- Excellent planning, organisational and communication skills.
