The predicted salary is between 24000 - 36000 £ per year.

Historically, vergers were responsible for maintaining the order of church services and the upkeep of church buildings. HTB Vergers are a combination of practical facilities management and operational support to our clergy. We prepare our venues to a high standard, welcome all guests, and work alongside our clergy to play an active part in the evangelisation of the nations, the revitalisation of the church and the transformation of society.

As part of this role, you will be expected to do some of the following:

  • Protect: Ensuring our grounds are kept safe, including being a designated key holder and only permitting access to buildings when appropriate.
  • Prevent: Conducting site safety checks and monitoring potential health and safety hazards.
  • Present: Being a point of contact for staff and congregation, setting up events, garden maintenance and general DIY.
  • Prepare: All assigned work on Verger roles matrix.

  • General DIY skills
  • Physically able to perform manual handling tasks

  • Team player that can follow instructions and lead a team
