MTL Advanced is hiring due to a major expansion, marked by the opening of our brand-new manufacturing facility, based in Rotherham just 5 minutes away from Meadowhall shopping centre. MTL Advanced is operating from an impressive 390,000 sq. feet facility. We are a leading engineering and manufacturing company committed to innovation, quality and growth. We have invested in an extensive range of technology and equipment and provide services to a range of OEM’s from leading industries including defence, security, construction, quarrying, recycling and rail. Our in-house capabilities include large format Laser Cutting and Press Braking, CNC Precision Machining, Fabrication & Welding, Shot Blasting, Painting and final Assembly.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated machine shop manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our machine shop. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and developing the machining team, managing the machining resources and ensuring production targets are achieved while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety and efficiency.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the CNC Machine shop, ensuring safe, efficient and productive manufacturing.
  • Allocate resources and machine capacity, driving the team to meet production schedules and departmental KPI’s.
  • Monitor machining performance and identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce downtime and minimise waste.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing and problem-solving techniques.
  • Supervise, coach and develop team members through regular performance reviews, training and monitoring.
  • Attend and actively contribute to production, planning, quality and health and Safety meetings.
  • Prepare, report and manage departmental performance metrics.

  • Experienced hands-on manager with an in-depth knowledge of CNC milling.
  • Capable of coaching to maximise team performance.
  • A problem solver capable of working to tight tolerances and meeting deadlines.
  • Focused on Quality, Delivery and H&S.
  • Experience and knowledge of FANUC operating systems.
