We are looking for a GP to cover six sessions (Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday) for a maternity leave. Fixed contract of 6 months, starting around April 2026. The practice is located in Droylsden, Manchester, and offers a friendly, training and supportive environment with a diverse team and no extended hours or weekend shifts.
About The Role

- Standard GP salaried role: provide patient care, triaging blood reports, hospital letters, home visits, etc.
Responsibilities
- Provide high‑quality, patient‑centred primary care in accordance with NHS standards.
- Triage and manage laboratory and imaging results, hospital letter referrals, and home‑visit requests.
- Deliver continuity of care for existing patient lists.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary primary‑care team and support practice objectives.
Qualifications
Essential
- Fully qualified General Practitioner with MBBS or equivalent medical degree
- Completion of GP Specialty Training (CCT) or working towards CCT
- GMC registration with a licence to practise
- Inclusion on the NHS England GP Performers List (or eligible to join)
- Ability to provide high‑quality, patient‑centred primary care
- Strong clinical decision‑making and diagnostic skills
- Excellent communication skills with patients, families, and colleagues
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary primary‑care team
- Understanding of clinical governance, safeguarding and quality improvement
- Competent IT skills, including use of clinical systems (EMIS, Docman)
- Commitment to professional development, appraisal and revalidation
Desirable
- Previous experience working as a salaried GP or GP registrar in an NHS setting
- Experience managing long‑term conditions (e.g. diabetes, asthma, COPD)
- Experience of teaching, mentoring or supervising trainees or students
- Involvement in quality improvement projects, audits or clinical research
- Experience working in a multicultural or high‑needs patient population
- Familiarity with local NHS services and referral pathways
- Leadership or management experience within primary care
- Flexibility to contribute to extended hours or additional clinical sessions
- Willingness to support practice development and service innovation
