HSTG Maintenance Contracts Limited t/a SJG Maintenance is a growing maintenance and small construction business delivering high-quality, reliable services across residential and commercial projects. As we continue to scale, we are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to take ownership of day-to-day operations and ensure the business runs efficiently, profitably, and professionally. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is comfortable managing multiple priorities, and takes accountability seriously.

The Role

You will have end-to-end responsibility for operational performance across the business. Acting as the central link between ownership, the office, and the field teams, you will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard. You will be responsible for operational execution, people management, cost control, and continuous improvement as the business grows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the office team while overseeing site operatives and subcontractors
  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver multiple maintenance and small construction projects concurrently
  • Schedule and optimise labour, vehicles, and jobs on a daily and weekly basis
  • Act as the primary operational liaison between ownership, staff, suppliers, and clients
  • Track and control job costs, materials, labour, and supplier spend
  • Manage operational budgets and maintain strong cost discipline
  • Ensure efficient utilisation of staff, vehicles, and resources
  • Resolve operational issues quickly in a live, high-pressure environment
  • Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and customer service
  • Improve systems, processes, and workflows to support business growth
  • Produce regular operational and financial performance reports for ownership

You will be accountable for meeting and reporting against agreed monthly targets, including but not limited to:

  • Monthly revenue and gross margin
  • Labour productivity and efficiency
  • Job profitability and cost control
  • Vehicle utilisation and downtime
  • On-time project completion
  • Rework and defect reduction
  • Safety, compliance, and incident performance
