Field Service Engineer Job Purpose To provide servicing, repairs and calibrations for customers’ food testing equipment, as required and in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications. Duties and Responsibilities * Provide on-site servicing, repairs and calibration as required. * Complete installations, commissioning and training where required. * Ensure equipment is calibrated to traceable standards. * Liaise with the Service Manager and Service Coordinator to prioritise and plan work schedules. * Assist with in-house quality assurance, repairs and servicing for customer and company equipment and products. * Assist with laboratory services, including sample testing and application development. * Manage allocated stock of parts and consumables. * Follow technical process procedures in line with ISO requirements and provide advice accordingly. * Assist with technical support responses to customers. * Ensure documentation is completed promptly and accurately. * Adhere to all relevant customer site procedures. * Complete customer visits in line with agreed schedules and procedures. * Adhere to all company policies and procedures. * Carry out any other relevant duties as required. Person Specification Essential * Proven experience in a similar role. * A relevant qualification in electronic and/or electro-mechanical systems. * Good working knowledge of computing and software, including programming and debugging. * Ability to work as part of a team and to plan and work on your own initiative. * Excellent attention to detail. * Ability to diagnose faults and solve problems. * Good planning skills. * Excellent customer interaction skills. * Ability to manage your own time and workload. * Ability to work under pressure. * Full UK driving licence. Desirable * HND qualification or above in engineering, electronics and/or software. * Experience with PLC and SCADA/HMI systems. Dimensions of the Role Occasional visits abroad are required for customer visits and supplier training. Overnight stays average four per month. Working Conditions This is a field-based role involving regular customer visits, predominantly in the North of the UK, with coverage of the whole of the UK and Northern Ireland when required.
