Hours: Monday–Friday, Rotating shifts (mornings and afternoons)
- Mon to Thurs - 6am - 2pm or 2pm -10pm
- Fridays - 6am - 12pm or 2pm to 8pm
Pay: £30K to £34K per annum
Overview:
Our well-established client in Whetstone is seeking a Fabrication Technician that will be working within a small fabrication team to manufacture precision optical components using CNC milling machines, high-speed spindle polishers, single-point diamond turning machines, and other specialised equipment. The role requires working to standard operating procedures, maintaining high quality, and supporting continuous process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate 3 axis CNC Milling machine
- Operate twin polishing machinery to produce high-quality optical components.
- Perform in-process inspections and adjust processes to maintain quality standards.
- Manufacture high specification optics utilising previous fabrication knowledge.
- Communicate progress, issues, and completion times to the team leader or manager.
- Achieve productivity targets and minimise scrap and rework.
- Identify defects and support improvements to manufacturing processes.
- Maintain accurate paperwork, follow health and safety requirements, and keep a tidy work area.
- Assist colleagues and support training when required.
Skills & Requirements:
- Good communication and computing skills.
- Ability to perform simple arithmetic.
- Strong handling skills and attention to detail.
- Motivated, confident, and able to work independently.
- GCSE/ONC level mathematics (desirable).
- Experience in optical manufacturing or engineering (desirable).
Physical Requirements:
Regular lifting of items over 5 kg and general movement of optics across the fabrication area.
